counter

Once upon a time.... okay, a few years ago, when I started my site, I installed the free counter from Nedstat and through the years, it did it's job. but last year Nedstat was taken over and since then it's changed it's name. and a few weeks ago, I started seeing unwanted popups on my site (and some others). at first I didn't know where they came from, but I soon found only one common thing amongst these sites. yes, the counter.
so today, I replaced the old Nedtstat counter with new ones by OneStat.

let's hope they don't go so low and put free popups with the counter without telling.

fokke & sukke in english

Fokke & Sukke cartoons are now available in english as well.
en english they're called Duck & Birdie

quoting the website:

From the boardroom to the darkroom, from the jungle to the supermarket aisle, Duck & Birdie are masters at combining the witty and intelligent with the silly and crude. Started as a student prank, they now enjoy great popularity in the Netherlands where they feature daily in quality broadsheet NRC Handelsblad. Both endearing and repulsive, Duck & Birdie are remarkably versatile in their consistent effort to redefine the boundaries of good taste.
Duck & Birdie (“Fokke & Sukke” in Dutch) began their rise to stardom in 1994 when the renowned Amsterdam student magazine Propria Cures grudgingly admitted that Reid, Geleijnse and Van Tol’s Easter submission had what it takes to make readers giggle (for undisclosed reasons, their earlier Christmas cartoon had been deemed ‘inappropriate’).
Now with over a decade of political incorrectness under their belts (or rather, their shirt-tails), Duck & Birdie have become a vital feature of the Dutch media landscape. Uncannily in step with the zeitgeist and the latest political and societal trends, they have successfully flaunted their own brand of misfit idiocy from a variety of platforms, enjoying an ever widening and surprisingly highbrow fanbase.
In addition to a daily slot in the Netherlands’ number one quality broadsheet, NRC Handelsblad, Duck & Birdie feature in numerous Dutch university magazines and trade publications. Collections of their antics have seen reprint after reprint and they also appear on a popular range of greeting cards. In 2003, Duck & Birdie were awarded the Stripschapprijs, the Netherlands’ premier cartoon award. Without wishing to make a claim to being high art, Duck & Birdie cartoons have also been exhibited in museums and galleries in the Netherlands and the USA.
For reasons of personal safety, it’s perhaps worth stating that Duck & Birdie in no way reflect the opinions and tastes of their creators: writer & illustrator Jean-Marc van Tol and writers John Reid and Bastiaan Geleijnse. Somewhat disturbingly, they’re actually quite regular guys with families, careers and mortgages.
